Adenike Oladosu

Description

Adenike Oladosu is a globally recognized Nigerian climate activist, ecofeminist, and youth leader whose work is transforming the face of climate justice advocacy in Africa. She is the founder of the ILeadClimate movement, a youth-led initiative focused on advancing climate education, grassroots mobilization, and gender-inclusive solutions to the climate crisis. Passionate, articulate, and driven, Adenike has become one of the most influential young voices representing Africa in global climate discourse.

With a degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Adenike’s activism is deeply informed by her understanding of the link between climate change, food security, livelihoods, and peacebuilding—especially in vulnerable regions like the Lake Chad Basin, which has been severely impacted by climate-induced conflict and displacement. She is a vocal advocate for recognizing the gendered impacts of climate change, championing ecofeminism as a tool to empower women and girls as climate leaders and protectors of the environment.

Adenike gained international prominence when she was selected to speak at the United Nations Climate Action Summit in New York in 2019, where she delivered a powerful message about the urgency of climate action in Africa. Since then, she has spoken at major international events, including the COP negotiations, the World Economic Forum, and high-level UN panels, consistently emphasizing the need for African-led climate solutions and the inclusion of young people in shaping environmental policy.

Her initiative, ILeadClimate, has trained and mentored thousands of youth across Nigeria and beyond, equipping them with knowledge and tools to take climate action in their schools, communities, and governments. The movement has also focused on advocating for policy reforms that prioritize renewable energy, environmental education, climate finance, and ecosystem restoration.

Adenike’s work has earned her numerous accolades and global recognition, including features in international media such as BBC, Al Jazeera, and Deutsche Welle. She has been named one of the most influential young climate voices in Africa and continues to inspire a new generation of eco-conscious leaders committed to justice, equity, and sustainability.

As a bold and visionary leader, Adenike Oladosu exemplifies the power of youth-led advocacy in a time of ecological urgency. Her work reinforces the message that climate justice is not just about science and policy—it is about people, equity, and the future of the planet.
