Job Summary

The Health & Safety Officer will play a vital role in ensuring that Olabel’s processing operations in Ilaro, Ogun State, comply with all applicable health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring safety standards, conducting audits and risk assessments, training employees, and fostering a culture of safety throughout the plant.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce HSE policies, procedures, and standards.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits across plant operations.
• Deliver safety training programs for all levels of staff.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, preparing reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian labor laws and environmental regulations.
• Monitor and document HSE performance metrics.
• Collaborate with Plant, QA, and Maintenance teams to ensure a safe work environment.
• Recommend improvements to reduce hazards and improve occupational health.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Professional HSE certification (NEBOSH, IOSH, or ISPON) required.
• 3–5 years’ experience in health and safety management, preferably in manufacturing, agribusiness, or FMCG industries.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian HSE laws and compliance standards.
• Proven record in developing and implementing workplace safety programs.
• Excellent communication, training, and reporting skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSE management systems.
• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.

• Full-time role based in Ilaro, Ogun State.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Yoruba is an advantage for engaging with plant workers and local stakeholders.
